Henry’s vision

Shaping Charlotte’s Future

HJF Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Faison Enterprises and named for the company’s founder, Henry Jay Faison. Henry was born and raised in Charlotte. He began his real estate career by developing shopping centers in the 1960s in North Carolina. A true Charlottean, he wanted to see his home grow into a first-class city. During his career, Henry was one of the most prolific developers in the Southeast. In 1988, he formed Faison Enterprises with a vision for the firm to focus on real estate investing while also being a good corporate citizen.

Today, the company thrives as a privately held firm focused on retail, residential and commercial holdings. The firm maintains a focus on philanthropic endeavors to perpetuate the legacy of its founder.

Henry deeply believed in the American dream and loved to help others succeed. His friends affectionately called him “The Hawk” as he was a passionate conservationist and outdoorsman. He was quietly generous, supporting employees, nonprofits, and community initiatives. Henry’s discreet generosity serves as the backbone of HJF Foundation. He consistently thought of others and never hesitated to ask, “Where can I help?” HJF Foundation seeks to personify Henry’s passion and conviction.
